db[0][10]="A large tree up to 12m height, growing mainly on deep red sand and being abundant only locally. The leaves are shiny green, compound with one pair of butterfly-shaped leaflets. Flowers have not been observed by the author. The fruit is a 2 to 3cm long brown pod that releases one single seed. The shiny light brown seed itself is covered by an easily removable, attractive red skin with a yellow aril and is ripe from August onwards. Germination trials at the station, using fresh seeds, gave 67% germination rate without any seed pre-treatment and 37% with seeds which had been soaked in cold water for 24h. In both cases the red skin had been removed beforehand for easier germination. It is recommended to sow fresh seeds without seed pre-treatment from September onwards.";
db[0][11]="<span class=\"bold\">Use:&nbsp;</span>The attractive wood is used for manufacturing axes, knives, smoking pipes and wooden spoons. In the literature it is noted that it is also a valuable furniture wood. Dry wood gives a good, long lasting fuel wood. Both the seed and the red skin with the aril are eaten, but it is the red skin that is preferred. It can be eaten raw and tastes nutty but dry. Alternatively it can be soaked in warm water and eaten together with meat. When the seed is eaten, it is firstly soaked for three days in water, then pounded and eaten together with mahango or maize porridge. <br><img src=\"../../images/t.gif\" width=\"1\" height=\"6\"><br><span class=\"bold\">Medical use:&nbsp;</span>Very young leaves are eaten to treat cough. In cases of a severe cough, the leaves are boiled and then removed. The cooled down infusion is drunk, one cup full one to three times a day. It is also given to children.";
